Harvard Krokodiloes
On Thursday, July 24, and Friday, July 25, the AmerikaHaus NRW was delighted to partner with the Volksbühne am Rudolfplatz in welcoming the Harvard Krokodiloes, Harvard University’s oldest a cappella group and one of the most renowned collegiate vocal ensembles in the United States. It was the third time that the Kroks came to North Rhine-Westphalia as part of their summer world tour.
With a rich tradition dating back to 1946, the Krokodiloes brought their signature blend of musical excellence, sophisticated charm, and spirited showmanship to Cologne. Their performance featured a repertoire of jazz standards, American classics, and contemporary arrangements — all delivered with the impeccable harmonies and light-hearted stage presence that have made the Kroks international cultural ambassadors. They surprised the audience with a special rendering of “Marmor, Stein und Eisen bricht,” prompting the guests to join in on singing this German hit.
The atmosphere of the Volksbühne am Rudolfplatz provided the perfect setting for this a cappella concert. On both evenings, the audience responded with laughter and standing ovations, underscoring the joy and energy that the Krokodiloes brought to the stage.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Volksbühne am Rudolfplatz for their generous collaboration and to the Harvard Krokodiloes for sharing their remarkable talent with us here in North Rhine-Westphalia.
