»Town Hall Meeting«

featuring US Congressman John Lewis, House of Representatives (Dem), Atlanta (GA).

John Lewis is one the most recognizable figures in the American civil rights movement. He has fought against social tl_files/articles/programm/veranstaltungen/2010/Lewisweb.jpginjustice and is a leader of the human rights struggle in the US. He became politically active as a young man and entered the US House of Representatives in 1984.

In the framework of this traditional American town hall meeting, John Lewis, following a short statement, responded to the questions and comments of 400 stl_files/articles/programm/veranstaltungen/2010/LewisSchueler.jpgchool children from all over North Rhein Westphalia. The Town Hall Meeting is an informal, official meeting that is typical in city halls where all are invited and welcome to come and take part, speak his or her mind and to hear the answers directly from their representatives.

The Townhall Meeting was opened by Mayor Jürgen Roters and Jeane Freifau von Oppenheim, Chair of the Board of the tl_files/articles/aktuelles/newsletter/2010/John-Lewis_Townhall_web.jpgAmerika Haus e.V. NRW.
