»Roy Lichtenstein. Art as Motive«
with Katia Baudin, Assistant Director of the Ludwig MuseumOn the occassion of the special exhibit of Roy Lichtenstein's work at the Ludwig Museum, the Amerika Haus e.V. NRW invited to an exclusive tour of this unknown side of the famous artist.
With her tri-cultural (German, French, American) background, education and career, Katia Baudin's private and professional lives bridge the transatlantic gap. The American-born French woman is an expert in modern and period art and design with a special focus on interdisciplinary cross-over. She studied at Hofstra University in New York and at the Sorbonne in Paris. Before she
came to Cologne in 2008, she worked in Strasbourg at the École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, a leading academy for art and design. In her tour through the exhibit, "Roy Lichtenstein. Art as Motiv“, Baudin presented the artist from less known perspectives. Who already knew that Lichtenstein spent half of
his life sparring with Pablo Picasso? Or that Lichtenstein worked with expressionism, futurism, constructionism and Art Déco in his art? There was also an opportunity to ask Ms. Baudin questions at the Ludwig Museum café after the tour.
