Thomas Kausch reports on his journey through the "new America", the one currently led by Barack Obama. As a former foreign correspondent in the US, he got to know Americans and their habits and way of life particularly well. He wanted to know if America has changed since the election of Barack Obama, what are Americans' hopes, wishes and expections?

In letter form, his part ironic, part humorous lecture about his experience also touches on actual political and societal developments. The prominent TV anchor offered conversational answers to questions like, "Does George W. Bush now live in an outlet in Dallas?" and "Why does this hair stylist from L.A. hate all Düsseldorfers?"

He anchors the political show, "Fakt" on ARD and the political theme evenings on the channel Arte. Hew as also the new chief for Sat.1. He has also worked as a war correspond and foreign correspondent for ZDF and spent three years in New York with ARD und ZDF.
