Aachen: »Hyper Real - Art and America around 1970«
by Dr. Brigitte Franzen, Museum Director at the Museum Ludwig Forum AachenTo celebrate its 20th anniversary, the Museum Ludwig Forum Aachen is hosting the exhibit "Hyper Real - Art and America around 1970." Amerika Haus e.V. NRW organized an exclusive, guided tour in English and German.
In terms of time, aesthetics and society, Dr. Brigitte Franzen and Anna Sophia Schultz discussed photorealism around the year 1970, its context of parallel art movements, such as pop art, conceptual art, land art, and "new topographics."
"Hyper Real - Art and America around 1970" at the Ludwig Forum Aachen reflects "American Way of Life" within the framwork of social political developments. The exhibit brings together 250 works by 100 artists, which have never been displayed before in Germany in such variety and composition.
The guided tour was followed by a reception at the "Lufo Garten" of the Ludwig Forum.
