featuring Richard Hell, musician, author & art critic, New York City

Guided Tour, Lecture & Discussion

»Words are Images, Paintings are Photographs, Books are Paintings - Christopher Wool's Art in His Books and Artists' Photos«

American artist Christopher Wool is known worldwide for his abstract painting, especially his “Word Paintings,” for which he first achieved public acclaim in the 1980s and 90s. Wool has also made a name for himself as a photographer and producer of art books. To kick off this year’s ART Cologne, Wool will be recognized with the prestigious Hahn Award.

Musician and art critic Richard Hell, likewise based in New York and a friend and collaborator of Christopher Wool’s, is a great admirer not only of Wool’s painting, but also of his photographs and art books. On the occasion of the exhibition “Christopher Wool. Porto – Cologne” at Museum Ludwig, Hell will be coming to Cologne to speak about Wool’s work.

Moderation: Jörg Streichert, Managing Director, Friends of the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum and Museum Ludwig e.V.

Admission is free of charge. The event will be held in English. We cordially invite you to a reception afterwards.
