»End of Year Event with American Conductor James Gaffigan«
Maja Ellmenreich talked with young American conductor James Gaffigan about his career, discussed American culture and got to the bottom of the chances and challenges of cultural education on both sides of the Atlantic.Before and after the talk, there was music played by the Pre-College, School of Music Cologne (violin duo) and of the Gürzenich-Orchestra Cologne (Oboe and English Horn).

The Musicians:Lara Boschkor, 10 years old, is a student at the Pre-College Cologne since 2008. In 2009 she was among others awarded the Grand Premier Prix at the international „Concours Flame“ in Paris and she made the first prize as well as the special prize at the „International Hindemith Competiton“ in Berlin.
Linda Guo, 10 years old, is a student at the Pre-College Cologne since 2009. Besides playing the violine she also plays the piano and won the 2009 regional contest of „Jugend musiziert“ (Youth Plays Music) in the category „piano four handed“. In 2008 she already won the same competition in the categroies „solo piano“ and „solo violine“, as well as in the category „string trio“.
