»Transatlantic Exchange on Urban Affairs«
The McCloy-Scholarship is one of the leading transatlantic scholarships. Each year the American Council on Germany in New York City chooses in ech case four representatives from different communes in the United States and Germany. Goal of this scholarship is a transatlantic exchange about "Urabn Affairs". The German partner of the American Council on Germany is the Deutsche Städtetag in Cologne.During their three weeks of journey through Germany the American fellows met their German colleagues for expert talks. They visited the hometowns of the German scholarship holders who had already visited with them in the U.S. with the McCloy-Program.
In Cologne, the fellows visited the offices of Amerika Haus e.V. NRW for a talk on the importance of transatlantic affairs for the City of Cologne and the State of North Rhine Westphalia. Prior to this meeting, Amerika Haus NRW had co–ordinated a guided tour of WDR broadcasting studios followed by a talk with Arnd Henze, deputy editor in chief of the foreign desk of WDR TV.
